1 million UK children don't have access to a garden to play in

Updated: Jun 22, 2020

For this week’s Friday #BeanoBrain round-up we looked into why UK kids are spending more time outside then their US counterparts?

  1. 23% of US kids and 14% of UK kids have not done any outdoor activities in a week

  2. c. 1 million school aged children in the UK have no access to a garden to go out and play in

  3. c. 8 million school aged children in the US have no access to a yard to go out and play in

For Gen Alpha, who actively seek time away from devices and for whom playing outdoors a normally a preference, this clearly has huge ramifications.

So what do we need to do? Brands and organisations need to remember these kids and criticism of people still going outside should be considered with this lens.

Ultimately we should all be seeking ways to help these children find their safe outdoor space to play.

Can your brand or organisation play a part? What can we all do?
