44% of UK kids would rather stay at home and do school work

Updated: Jun 22, 2020

This week Amanda Speilman Ofsted Chief Inspector said it was “in children's interests to be back in school as early as possible."

But we don’t agree that’s true...

Not for all children. For this week’s #BeanoBrain round-up we found that 44% of UK kids would rather stay at home and do schoolwork and through our Trendspotters panel we’ve seen kids thriving away from the school routine. Have a look at what Amelia, Theo and Josh had to say.

"It's easier to do school at home, there's less pressure." - Josh, 10

"I've been doing loads of schoolwork. I've done 50 games on Times Table Rockstars and 25 on Ed Shed for spelling." - Amelia, 9

"It's probably better. I don't get distracted." - Theo, 10

Due to their entrepreneurial nature and access to technology Gen Alpha may be the most creative generation yet, so is this the time to pause and relook at how we’re teaching and testing them?
