TRACKING YOUNG PEOPLE'S MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT NEEDS AND SERVICE EXPERIENCE FOR YOUNG MINDS

SUMMER READING

Tracking young people’s mental health support needs and service experience to quantify the effectiveness of YoungMinds’ work

OBJECTIVES

  • Measure how young people are feeling over time

  • Understand how well supported they feel if they need help with their mental health

  • Identify changes in young people’s mental health and how well early support provision is being delivered

SOLUTION

  • Year long, quarterly quantitative tracker of overall sentiment, positive and negative elements impacting mental health and awareness and perceptions of mental health support providers

  • Supplementary qualitative contextual interviews with Trendspotters and young adults aged 11-25 year olds

RESULTS

  • Providing Young Minds with an up to date, regular grounded view from young people, enabling them to prioritise resource, focus campaigns and engage in insight based dialogue with Government

“We chose to partner with Beano Brain on this important and potentially difficult to research topic for two main reasons. Firstly due to their specialism in knowing how to engage and speak to young people. Secondly due to their pedigree at distilling insights that can drive change in businesses and organisations. After the initial wave, the project is already starting to exceed expectations and has so much value across the organisation”
